The Bible does not mention retirement or retirement savings plans explicitly, yet Servant Solutions emphasizes the importance of preparing for the future. Why are we so passionate about focusing on saving for your retirement years? It is our deep desire to help individuals secure their finances to continue living out their God-given purpose of sharing Jesus' love throughout their lives. Without a biblical perspective on money and saving, the world offers a much bleaker view. Servant Solutions aims to provide a faith-based approach to financial security for those dedicated to serving God.
At Servant Solutions, we believe that while the Bible doesn't specifically address saving for retirement, it offers abundant wisdom on planning, spending wisely, and saving diligently for the future. The Bible also acknowledges that our Creator is well aware our physical bodies were not designed to live or work forever on earth. Money is mentioned an average of 154 times. (Average due to different versions of the Bible.) However, the terms riches, wealth, gold, and silver along with money are mentioned a total of 2,350 times. Some examples from God’s Word are below:
Proverbs 21:20 “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs
down.”
Proverbs 21:5, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.”
Proverbs 13:11, “Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.”
Proverbs 30: 24-25, “Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise: Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer.”
Numbers 8:23-26, “The Lord said to Moses, ‘This applies to the Levites: Men twenty-five years old or more shall come to take part in the work at the tent of meeting, but at the age of fifty, they must retire from their regular service and work no longer…”
These verses affirm that planning and saving are not only practical but also deeply rooted in biblical principles. Servant Solutions asserts that money, retirement, and saving for retirement are Biblical concepts that our Lord wants us to carefully consider. We believe God wants us to have a firm grasp on money, so that it does not have a firm grasp on us, as money is not inherently bad. Many wrongly quote “Money is the root of all evil.” However, the verse actually reads “For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” 1 Timothy 6:10
As disciples of Christ, we must be mindful of our relationship with money and how we manage it throughout life. Early financial planning allows us to remain faithful stewards, ensuring that we can continue living out our calling—even beyond our working years.
While God acknowledges that we will age, He never permits us to stop sharing His message. By planning wisely, we can maintain financial security and the freedom to serve Him in all seasons of life.
